Mawsonia, an extinct genus of coelacanth, was a large, lobe-finned fish that lived during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, approximately 160 to 66 million years ago. Closely related to modern coelacanths like Latimeria, Mawsonia was notable for its size—some species could grow up to 6 meters (20 feet) long—making it one of the largest known coelacanths.
